Centenary Camp at Bowley Scout Camp

In 1907 Lord Robert Baden-Powell held an experimental camp for 20 boys on Brownsea Island. One hundred years on we are celebrating the Centenary of the Scouting and what better way to do so than with weekend of celebrations at Bowley Scout Camp , Gt Harwood from Friday May 25th - Sunday May 27th.

Pictured above from the left : Baxenden Scout Group, All Saints Scout Group and Rishton Baptist Scout Group prepare to set off from the district camp for the Opening Ceremony.

Hundreds of Cubs, Scouts, Exporers make their way from their district camps to the Opening Ceremony.

Baxenden Beaver Scouts present Hyndburn District Commissioner Jennifer Turner with her very own T-Shirt.
They all had a “paw” in making it!

All Saints Mercer Beavers feeling the long arm of the law after trying out a police car for size.

The Dunk Tank cooled down quite a few cubs, scouts and leaders including this cub from 109th Loyola

Beavers loved the activities in the Arts and Craft Tent , making lots of wonderful creations.

Their leaders were a bit concerned about the combination of Beavers and hammers but fortunately there were no injuries!!!

Surely the best attended flag break ever at Bowley!!!!

Cubs and Scouts from 109th Loyola having playing noughts and crosses and trying out some new specs.

Unlucky for Skip, it just happened to be his birthday.
Baxenden Scout Group celebrated with him in a truly original way !! ……
…. And then embarrassed him further by getting him on the big stage !

And whilst the Beaver Scouts are away, Baxendens ABSL’s play !!!
And some just enjoy a few moments of peace!!!
